Nose: Rum raison chocolate straight off the bat, with coffee beans and ripe tobacco leaf dripping in vanilla custard and all spice.
Palate: Lots of heat on the palate that is neutralised by a silky, creamy sweetness that coats the mouth. The intensity is followed by delightful honey on toast, buttery toffee and tanned leather, with the very distant, subtle hint of sulphur.
Finish: Soft sugars and wood compliment a moderate and drying finish.
Bottling notes: Here’s another gem from Joadja following on from their inaugural bourbon cask release. It’s their very first oloroso sherry cask whisky finished in bourbon casks. 10 x 32 litre Oloroso sherry casks (JW 1-10) were aged for 18 months and then married together and finished in 3 bourbon casks (JW 29-31) for an additional 6 months yielding 300 x 500ml bottles and 100 x 200ml bottles.
